I don’t know about all of you, but our part time Floridian is running a race to place a sure bet on. At least it would seem that way. Yes, we have a long way to go and plenty of miles for Mr. Trump to cover. It is looking more like a horse race at times with ‘The Donald’ keeping his line than a political campaign for president of the United States. It is yet to be seen how he fares in Florida. I believe if the mud-slinging nonsense would stop between the GOP then the American people could see things clearer and make an intelligent choice. After all, it is the issues we are voting on. Let the candidates records speak for themselves. These debates are becoming a playground for a bunch of men acting like boys. Calling names and bringing out character flaws in each of their opponents. Yes, please call our attention to policy positions, past, present and future, but I really don’t believe that knowing whether a man on the debate stage requested a full length mirror, or if one of them sweats a lot is relevant. The debate stages are making a mockery of our process.
Mr. Trump may have evolved over the years assuming new views on certain issues, but you would be hard pressed to find a politician in Washington who has not changed their positions at times. I have had the pleasure of seeing Mr. Trump speak in Florida way before his announcement of running for President. His demeanor will always be what it is. He projects a brash, egotistical, stronger than life personality. When I think about it, I have had an ex-husband like that and one thing I can say for sure, he personified strength and leadership where it mattered. I believe Mr. Trump can and would do just that. My vote will not be based on how many wives a candidate had, or what religion he is, or what color his skin is, or if he was less than complimentary to a celebrity trying to be a politician, or what kind of suit he (or she) wears. It will be based on substance, on the potential to lead our country out of this madness we are experiencing. It will be based on his (or her) ability to lead, to be strong, to protect us, to unite us, to bring back respect and values, to build our economy, to make America great again, to stand up to our enemies. I will cast my vote to bring life back to the American dream, to educate our children, to do what is right not what is politically correct. To follow our Constitution, the document that gave us greatness and made us different from all other countries. We have two (actually three) Florida horses in this race. A lot is at stake. It may be the most important vote of your life. Be prudent, listen, do your research. Happy voting.
