This week’s Monday Night RAW was all about factions, as an epic 16-man elimination team tag match started the show and the apparent joining of Team Bad and The New Day was one of the show’s few highlights. While the card is set for TLC, there was little done in building excitement for the event. Sure, there was Roman Reigns’ pinfall win over Sheamus, but anyone that thinks Reigns is leaving TLC as WWE World Heavyweight Champion has been hit with a few too many Superman Punches.
Simply put, any time there’s a night where Tommy Dreamer is on the card twice, you know something went wrong.
16-man Ream Elimination: The Wyatt Family: Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, Braun Strowman and Erick Rowan vs. Team Extreme: The Dudley Boys: Bubba Ray and Devon, Tommy Dreamer and Rhyno vs. The League of Nations: WWE World Heavyweight Champion Sheamus, United States Champion Alberto Del Rio, Rusev and Wade Barrett vs. Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns and Jimmy and Jey Uso: Browman was strong early on, but Dreamer got the elimination on Rowan with the Dreamer DDT. Although the Dudleys hit the 3D, Del Rio was able to distract Devon long enough for Sheamus to eliminate Bubba Ray with the Brogue Kick. The LON worked well together as Del Rio hit Reigns with a Super Kick and the Cross-Arm Bar, but Jimmy Uso hit the Splash to even things up. Reigns then hit the Spear to pin the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
Dolph Ziggler vs. Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens: A solid encounter with plenty of near-falls and high impact offense. Although Ziggler pushed Owens to his limit, the Intercontinental Champion retained the title with the Pop-Up Powerbomb. After the match, Dean Ambrose hit the ring and threw popcorn and soda in Owens’ face.
Sasha Banks and Naomi w/Tamina Stuka vs. Brie Bella and Alicia Fox: A complete disaster with zero flow. Naomi got the win with the Rear View, thanks to interference from Banks and Snuka. After the match, The New Day hit the ring and apparently they, too are a faction.
The Lucha Dragons: Sin Cara and Kalisto vs. WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day: Big E. Langston and Kofi Kingston w/ Xavier Woods: Another lackluster encounter that saw Sin Cara get the win with a Rollup following Kingston’s inability to recover following The Usos distraction.
Ryback vs. Rusev w/Lana: You’ve got to give Ryback credit here. He tried. With a Spinning Splash to the outside on Rusev, Ryback shocked the thousands in attendance. However, more drama between Rusev and Lana allowed Ryback to get locked in The Accolade on the outside, leading to a double count-out.
Jack Swagger vs. Stardust: Swagger got the win with the Patriot Lock, but the interfering Alberto Del Rio took everyone out with chairs.
Tommy Dreamer w/Bubba Ray, Devon Dudley and Rhyno vs. Braun Strowman w/Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper and Erick Rowan: Dreamer went for the DDT, but Strowman got the win with his Choke-out maneuver.
