Tonight, Sunday, February 21, 2016, WWE presented the second annual Fastlane pay per view. Tonight’s show was held inside the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. Here are the results.
In the Kickoff pre-show match, WWE United States Champion Kalisto beat Alberto Del Rio in a 2-out-of-3 Falls Match to retain his Championship.
– Del Rio was disqualified in the first fall for using a steel chair on Kalisto on the outside of the ring.
– Del Rio then pinned Kalisto with a double stomp off the top rope to win the second fall.
– Kalisto caught Del Rio with a roll up to win the third and deciding fall.
In the opening match of the pay per view, Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch beat Naomi and Tamina. Banks locked in the Bank Statement on Tamina for the tap out victory. Lynch caught Naomi in the Dis-arm-her in neutralize her and stop her from breaking up the submission.
WWE Intercontinental Champion Kevin Owens beat Dolph Ziggler to retain his Championship. Ziggler looked for a superkick up Owens countered it, and hit the Pop-up Powerbomb for the pinfall.
Backstage, The Big Show, Ryback and Kane hyped themselves up for their six-man tag match against The Wyatt Family. They then showed a video package of the rivalry between “The Titans” and The Wyatt Family.
In a six-man tag team match, Kane, The Big Show and Ryback beat The Wyatt Family (Luke Harper, Erick Rowan & Braun Strowman). Bray Wyatt accompanied his team to the ring. Ryback hit Harper with a poorly executed Shell Shocked to get the pinfall for his team. During the bout and pre-match hype, Ryback’s team was constantly refered to as The Titans.
Backstage, Jojo interviewed Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose about their upcoming main event triple threat match against Brock Lesnar.
They aired a video package for the upcoming Charlotte-Brie Bella Diva Titles bout. The match also received super-special ring announcing with the participants mid-ring after they had both made their entrance. WWE Divas Champion Charlotte (with Ric Flair) beat Brie Bella to retain the Championship. Bella had Charlotte locked in a half crab, but was kicked to the ropes when she tried to transition her grip. Charlotte then caught her in the Figure Eight for the tap out victory.
They aired a video package on the burgeoning AJ Styles-Chris Jericho rivalry. Backstage, Jojo then interviewed Chris Jericho about the upcoming match with Styles. This would be the third televised match in their feud.
AJ Styles made Chris Jericho tap out the Calf Killer to win match three in their series. Previously Jericho kicked out Styles’ other patented finishing move, the Styles Clash, which caused Styles to transition to his submission. Post-match, as Styles celebrated Jericho pulled him off the ropes. It looked like they would fight again, instead Jericho offered his hand and the two men shook hands.
Edge & Christian then came to the ring (complete with over-the-top introduction from Tony Chimel) for their edition of The Cutting Edge Peep Show with WWE Tag Team Champions The New Day (Kofi Kingston, Big E & Xavier Woods). They promoted their upcoming show on the WWE Network and gave a shout out to Lance Storm before being interrupted by The New Day. The New Day ran down the company’s current teams, including The League of Nations. That brought out all four members of The League (Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio, Rusev & Wade Barrett). The New Day ran off, and The League mocked Edge & Christian, with Del Rio in particular reminding Edge of their past battles. Edge and Christian then retreated to the ramp as well. Edge, Christian & The New Day then mocked The League from the entranceway.
Curtis Axel of The Social Outcasts beat R-Truth in an impromptu match. Axel was accompanied by the rest of the Outcasts (Heath Slater, Bo Dallas & Adam Rose) for the match. Truth was distracted by the rest of The Outcasts so Goldust came out to even the odds. Goldust chased Rose, who slid into the ring. That caused Truth to be distracted, and Axel caught him with a roll up for the pin.
They showed a video package for the night’s main event. Lilian Garcia then did super special in-ring announcements for Dean Ambrose and Roman Reigns before Paul Heyman took over for the introduction for Brock Lesnar. In the main event, Roman Reigns beat Dean Ambrose and Brock Lesnar in a triple threat match. At the match’s end, Ambrose hit both men with a steel chair. When he turned his back to attack Lesnar more, Reigns recovered and hit Ambrose with a spear to win the match. As a result, Reigns will go to the main event to WrestleMania XXXII to challenge Triple H for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship. Post-match, Triple H came to the ring and the two men did the magazine worthy pose for the cameras with the Title belt and positioned below the WrestleMania sign.
