Beer aficionados, your dream job awaits! Well, it’s actually a paid internship, but still it’s pretty awesome. The Daily Mail reported today that World of Beer is looking for three “Drink it In-terns” who will travel the vast, beer-soaked United States to find and document the best craft brews in the country. Those who complete the four month jaunt without dying of alcohol poisoning will get $12,000 for their efforts.
Unfortunately, this utopian job is only available to already spoiled Americans and the application period ends March 26. Candidates must be US citizens and have permanent authorization to work in the states. Of course, all applicants must be older than 21.
To apply for the position within the next five days, beer lovers been must submit a simple one-minute video recalling their “most epic beer memory.” (Wow, it’s almost like World of Beer was just asking for clips of vomiting.) If an applicant’s movie makes the cut, they’ll get to audition at one of World of Beer’s in-tavern interviews taking place across the country next month.
“Candidates should be ready to show us their true personality, wow us with their social media and creative prowess, impress us with their passion for beer and food, and own the stage in front of our panelists,” says the World of Beer job description.
While enthusiastic homebrewers and cicerones aren’t known to work it for the camera, those with strong media personalities will likely have an advantage. Social media skills are also a must as interns are expected to share their beer travels on sites or apps like Facebook, Twitter, and Vine.
In terms of the bigger picture, those who complete this internship might have a better chance of getting a job in the beer world later on. In Colorado, one of America’s craft beer capitals, locally owned breweries employ more than 6,000 workers in the state and generate millions for the local economy, according to a 2015 report conducted by the Colorado Brewer’s Guild.
Meanwhile, World of Beer could offer a nice ladder to climb. It’s an ever-expanding franchise chain that already has 75 taverns in 20 states coast to coast. More locations are set to open soon in Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Minnesota, Oklahoma, and Pennsylvania.
World of Beer’s reasons for hosting this internship are still unclear but since it boasts itself as the “ultimate craft beer tavern” and has a selection of 28,000 brews across its various stores, it’s likely that the company is looking for some new menu favorites.
Think you have what it takes to be a “Drink It In-tern?” Apply here.
