Wooly Day is coming up at Rocky Mount State Historic Site in Piney Flats, Tennessee. According to Rocky Mount Museum.com there will be lots of fiber fun on April 9 with sheep shearing, spinning and weaving. Other springtime activities from the frontier farm will be featured such as cooking and gardening between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Rocky Mount advertises the experience they provide as “Where history comes alive.” It certainly has for visitors for a very long time!
Rocky Mount will be offering tours in the historic Cobb house, as usual, but the focus of Wooly Day will be their herd of Cotswold sheep. And don’t forget that the lambs have just being born. Children love the opportunity to pet them up close and personal.
For the history buff in the family, here is a very detailed document from the University of Tennessee dealing with the history of the construction of Rocky Mount Historic Site. Rocky Mount State Historic Site is located at 2007 Haddon Hill Road in Piney Flats Tennessee. Admission for Wooly Day will be $5 for everyone age 5 and over.
