The 2016 Wood Memorial live stream online and TV coverage takes place this afternoon from Aqueduct Racetrack in Jamaica, New York as the drive towards the 2016 Kentucky Derby continues. Following the Louisiana and Florida derbies, the Wood Memorial is another key step for these three-year old horses on their way to earning a spot in the upcoming Kentucky Derby. Aside from the Florida and Santa Anita Derbies, the Wood Memorial is one of the biggest prep races on the road to the Kentucky Derby. The 2016 Wood Memorial live streaming odds and TV coverage comes via NBC Sports networks on Saturday night.
According to a Wall Street Journal report, the winner of today’s main event from Aqueduct Race Track should solidify a spot in the big Kentucky Derby race in May. If Vegas odds makers are correct, that may come down to a battle between morning-line favorites Shagaf and Outwork. As of this morning, Shagaf is set at a 2-1 favorite, while Outwork is listed at 5-2. Outwork is the son of Uncle Mo, and is being trained by one of the best in the business in Todd Pletcher. Aside from the two heavy favorites, two other horses that are worth taking a risk on are Matt King Cole and Flexibility. At 8/1 Flexibility could surprise this short field of 8 this afternoon.
So who will win the 2016 Wood Memorial? It should come down to Shagaf and Outwork. It’s not that the other horses don’t have a chance, however these two are the class of the field. Today’s winner, and possible runner-up, will join Florida Derby winner Nyquist and Louisiana Derby winner Gun Runner in the field for the Run for the Roses next month. Mohaymen also looks to be a shoe-in when it comes to determining the upcoming field for the 2016 Kentucky Derby.
