William Shatner finds himself in a paternity suit as a grown man claims he is his son spawned from a fling Shatner had with his mother. The man is looking for his alleged dad to fork over $170 million dollars. This amount should apparently cover Shatner shirking off his alleged fatherhood duties for over half of a century.
Hello Magazine on March 30 reports that Peter Sloan claims that his mother, the late Canada actress Kathy McNeil, and Shatner had a short affair and Sloan is the result of that affair. Sloan was given up for adoption by his mother when he was just 5 days old.
Shatner is adamantly denying Sloan’s allegation and he is refusing to take a DNA test, which Sloan is demanding via his lawsuit. Sloan claims that Shatner, who is 85 today, was on the set of “TJ Hooker” back in 1984 when he first met him.
Sloan said that back then Shatner admitted that he was his father. At one point Sloan started to go by the name Peter Shatner when hosting a radio show back in 2011. He also started a website, PeterShatner.com.
MSN News reports that Sloan claims Shatner is aware of Sloan now, but he wasn’t aware that his mother was pregnant and he didn’t know about Sloan being born and given up for adoption. It wasn’t until Sloan, who is 59 today, met Shatner on the set of “T J Hooker” decades ago that Shatner learned of Sloan claiming to be his son. Back in ’84, Sloan said Shatner acknowledged being his father, but Sloan was asked to keep it under wraps as it could mar Shatner’s career and family.
After taking the name Shatner on in 2011, Peter received a letter from Shatner’s lawyer claiming that over the years, many people have claimed to be Shatner’s long-lost child or relative. The letter from Shatner’s lawyer claimed that ” He is an incredibly busy, eighty-year-old man and is not interested in spending time discussing this issue with you or any such individuals.”
Sloan accuses Shatner of interfering with his work by getting his Twitter account shut down. He also said that Shatner hurt his business opportunities by having IMDB remove a page about a project he was working on.
Sloan, who is a radio show host today, wants money in return for being ignored as Shatner’s son and he’s is seeking $30 million in compensatory damages, $90million in punitive damages and $50million in pain and suffering. Again that is a lot of money for allegedly having a father that won’t acknowledge you!
