Wilco kicks off their Winter Star Wars 2016 tour at the Benedum Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania tonight. The show is sold out, as are a lot of the dates on the tour that runs through mid-February, but you can hear a brief but sweet session that they played today on WYEP’s “Live & Direct” that’s available on the station’s website.
For the 1:30 pm broadcast recorded at the WYEP studios, Jeff Tweedy and company performed acoustic versions of “Misunderstood,” “The Joke Explained,” “Random Name Generator,” and “A Shot in the Arm,” and host interviewed Tweedy, mostly about Star Wars, Wilco’s ninth album that dropped as a surprise last summer.
There are some tickets available for some shows on this tour – visit Wilcoworld.net for more information. Also there will be tickets releases for the sold out shows – stay tuned to their official Twitter handle, @wilco, for updates.
Wilco will make an in-store appearance at Bull Moose in Scarborough, Maine (456 Payne Road) on Wednesday, January 27th to play a acoustic set and sign copies of Star Wars and the new poster book “Beyond The Fleeting Moment: Wilco Concert Posters 2004-2014.” The event is at 1:30 pm, but folks can get a head start by purchasing a copy of Star Wars at any Portland area Bull Moose store and receiving one free priority wristband for the in-store (limit of 4 per person).
