Super Bowl Sunday is quickly approaching, and with the notoriety of the occasion, Subaru is fixing to let the dogs out, but not at the big game, but more aptly at the Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl X11.
As many of the Puppy Bowl followers know, the two hour televised special earlier in the day features shelter dogs scrapping in all canine fun on a makeshift football field competing for dog toys. And if you have ever watched a Subaru commercial, the “dog tested and dog approved” automobiles all focus around a retriever family named the “Barkleys” of course! For years, the Puppy Bowl has built up its popularity with millions of viewers tuning in to see the rescue pooches, and of course what states and shelters they all hail from which builds even more loyalty. It’s true their faces alone build allegiances, and it’s very hard to not root for the “underdog.” In fact, the popularity of the games have now been extended to kittens and even to the Fish Bowl. This year, Animal Planet worked with 44 different animal shelters and rescue organizations across the country to fill the rosters of #TeamRuff and #TeamFluff with adoptable players.
Subaru’s Alan Bethke, vice president of marketing for Subaru of America, announced in a press release, “Subaru and its customers have a deep connection to pets. Eight out of 10 Subaru owners are pet owners, and our brand continues to support the causes and initiatives that our customers care about. “The new ‘Dog Tested. Dog Approved.’ campaign puts the Barkley family in the driver’s seat to help celebrate this shared love.” You can see more of their videos ready for Puppy Bowl X11 here.
