It’s a pretty interesting list and gives fans an idea of which college football conferences deliver the best NFL players. 1. SEC – 23 players
By a large margin the SEC has the most players in Super Bowl 50 in 2016 with 23 players. Tennessee leads the way with four players in Peyton Manning, Britton Colquitt, and Malik Jackson on the Denver Broncos and Chris Scott on the Carolina Panthers.
2. Big Ten – 17 players
The Big Ten is easily in second place for most Super Bowl 50 players at 17. Ohio State leads the way with five players in Philly Brown, Kurt Coleman, Andrew Norwell and Tedd Ginn, Jr. on the Panthers and Bradley Roby on the Broncos.
3. Pac-12 – 13 players
The Pac-12 has the third most players in Super Bowl 50 in 2016 at 13. Oregon and Oregon State are tied for the most players from the Pac-12 at three each. Utah is next with two players and then USC, Washington, Cal, Arizona State and Colorado have one player each. There only 12 teams in the Pac-12 vs 14 for the SEC, Big Ten and ACC.
4. ACC – 11 players
Only 11 players from ACC teams are in Super Bowl 50. The ACC teams with the most players in the 2016 Super Bowl is Georgia Tech with three. Those players are Demaryius Thomas and Vance Walker on the Broncos and Lou Young on the Panthers. Poor showing for the ACC with 14 teams in the conference.
5. Big 12 – 9 players
The Big 12 has nine players playing in Super Bowl 50 but the conference gets a break because there are only 10 teams in the Big 12 compared to 12 to 14 for the other major conferences. Kansas and Oklahoma lead the way for the Big 12 with two players each while Oklahoma State, Texas, Texas Tech, TCU and Iowa State have one player each.
T-6. AAC and Mountain West – 7 players each
Both the AAC and the Mountain West have seven players each in Super Bowl 50 in 2016. Tulane from the AAC has two players while both San Diego State and Nevada from the Mountain West also both have two players in the game.
8. Sun Belt – 3 players
The Sun Belt has three players in Super Bowl 50. Troy leads the way with two players in Mario Addison on the Panthers and DeMarcus Ware on the Broncos. Texas-San Antonio also has a player in the game with Teddy Williams on the Panthers.
9. Notre Dame – 2 players
Notre Dame likes to think of itself as a conference unto itself. The Fighting Irish have two players in Super Bowl 50 with Ryan Harris on the Broncos and long-snapper J.J. Jansen on the Panthers.
