Being a product junkie has its pros such as being able to figure what products work in my hair versus which products don’t. The cons however, is I started to accumulate so many different products like stylers, leave-ins, and even shampoos and conditioners that I started running out of space in my bathroom storage. Over the course of the last 3 years, I have managed to narrow down my hoard of hair products down to 3. These are the products I use every week in my regimen; I call them my Holy Grail or The Trinity.
Carols Daughter Hair Milk Cleansing Conditioner: This conditioner is my favorite for more reasons than one. The price is pretty good for the amount of product. The price is $12 for 12 ounces. The conditioner is cleanses my scalp while simultaneously moisturizing my curls. It contains no mineral oil, parabens, petroleum, artificial colors, and contains no sulfates. Even though it does contain silicones, it does not take away from the fact that it helps with my biggest issue; shrinkage. If I were to omit this conditioner from my regimen, my hair would look a lot shorter than what it really is.
Another thing I love about the conditioner is the slip. The consistency allows me to finger detangle my hair as I apply it to my hair (it’s as if the tangles melt away the longer it sits in my hair). Also the smell is so wonderful, it’s a floral scent that isn’t over powering and lasts for a couple days. I honestly cannot think of anything bad about this product, Carols Daughter is definitely doing something right with this cleansing conditioner.
Shea Moisture Manuka Honey and Mafura Oil Hydration Masque: Where do I start with this deep conditioner? This conditioner literally lives up to its name, it is very hydrating. It contains organic Shea butter, honey, African Rock Fig, matura and baobab oils that penetrates my hair and gives it a healthy dose of moisture it may be lacking for any number of reasons. I find that the deep conditioner also helps with frizz that I know a lot of us curly girls experience. I typically use this product every time I wash my hair, which is once a week; anything more than that and I would eventually get moisture overload because of how moisturizing it is.
Another good thing, is the price. For roughly $11-$12 , you get 12 ounces that will last a good couple weeks; approximately 4-8 weeks, due to its thick consistency. Oh and the smell is just amazing. The mixture of the oils, Shea butter, and hint of sweetness from the honey will definitely permeate the bathroom once you put it in your hair and it will linger for a couple days thereafter.
Eden BodyWorks Al Natural Curl Defining Creme: I have been using Eden BodyWorks off and on since I went natural 3 years ago. However, this product has been a staple since day one. I have never replaced this product just to try other ones, I never stopped using it “just because,” nor will I ever stop using it. I use this as styler every week for my wash and go’s and I love what it does to my hair. It not only defines my curls but it also moisturizes them and help with the frizziness that occurs during day 4 of my wash and go. The consistency is another good thing; it isn’t too thick but it isn’t too water either. It has a lot of slip, so a little goes a long way which also helps in the longevity of the product. I don’t have to replace this product for a good 6-8 weeks. Aside from the results that I get when using this creme, I like the price point even more. I love getting more bang for my buck and at $8.49 for 16 fl oz; I am definitely getting my money’s worth.
