Excuse me (poke, poke), it’s your still, small New Year’s resolutions voice talking. Say, how are those coming along, now that it’s halfway-ish into January? Are your New Year’s resolutions going strong or did you fall off the wagon? So maybe you derailed, so dust yourself off and start over. If your one of your New Year’s resolutions was weight loss, here are 10 crazy-easy ways to lose weight without diet.
Slow down. Whatever you eat, take your time over meals. These rushed 10-minute feeds are packing on the pounds. Food doesn’t have time to hit the stomach and send up a satiation message, before a second helping is rushing down the gullet. Relax and enjoy your food–the longer it takes to eat a meal, the more full you feel, the less you overeat and the more comfort and satisfaction you get from food.
Chew your food slowly. This gives maximum enjoyment from less food. Plus you don’t get bloated gulping a bunch of air as you wolf down food. So you like McDonald’s junk food. So order a small hamburger and fries and take a little longer over them. You can feel just as full on that meal as you would on two guzzled down Big Macs and a supersize fries for about a tenth of the calorie investment!
Eat with other people. Here’s a crazy-simple weight loss tip–avoid eating alone where there is no one to see how much you eat. Dining with others provides a social feeding frenzy filter. You’ll order less food if you go out for dinner with others because you won’t want them to see you pigging out. You’ll order healthier foods with others watching, too. Keep your New Year’s resolutions without changing a thing except to add a little social time!
Eat protein, fruit, fiber and veggies in the morning and resistant starch carbs before bed. Weight loss isn’t just about what you eat but when. Eating protein gets you going and gives sustained energy. Eating fruit and vegetable carbs boosts metabolism. Fiber breaks down fat and fill you up. Resistant starch carbs before bed puts your digestive system to work burning calories. Make a power breakfast shake from berries, carrots, Greek yogurt, avocado, vitamin drink (Emergen’C), flaxseed and spinach or kale.
Stay a little chilly or overheated for crazy-easy weight loss. Your body burns about 100 calories a day just heating or cooling itself. So don’t bundle up or crank up the heat on cold days. Keep the AC on low so your body will have to burn energy staying cool or warm. Don’t let yourself get too chilled or you’ll get achy or sick or both.
Eat 30 minutes after rising or less. Eat a light breakfast, lunch and dinner. Mind the mindless snacking but have a bedtime snack. The jury is still out on the “six small meals” diet plan. But it is advisable to avoid eating fewer, heavier calorie-dense meals at a sitting. Keep meals and snacks to 300-500 calories.
Wait 15 minutes after eating to exercise, but then exercise shortly thereafter. Following a big meal with a nap or sedentary activity is the best way to gain weight. It doesn’t have to be vigorous exercise–10 minutes of yoga or a power walk will lose weight without diet.
Make New Year’s resolutions to quit eating and drinking in front of a screen. Watching TV, doing Facebook, playing computer games it’s much easier to mindlessly feed. Pretty soon you’ve down three drinks or a bag of chips. Take a screen break every 20-30 minutes to stretch. To lose weight without diet, eat less and swap trade chips for raw veggies.
Drink water. Bottled, purified or good old tap water–this is the miracle drug to lose weight without diet. Drink water to flush you out. Drink water to feel full and cleanse impurities. Drink water to keep you regular and help you poop out fat. Add a lemon wedge or apple cider vinegar if you like but plain water is fine. Order water at the restaurant for weight loss and to save money.
Stop drinking soda. You can lose weight without diet if you just swap soda for any other beverage except sugary ones. Try green tea with a little honey. Or drink water plain or as vitamin water. Drink black coffee, tea or plain water. Wean from cola and caffeinated pop to caffeine free and low sugar.
