Her favorite expression, “Keep reaching for stars, you’re bound to catch one.” Examiner asked Barrios a few questions to find out more.
Amy Nachbar: Can you believe that you are going to be on American Idol? What’s going through your mind now?
Sarah Barrios: I’m definitely really excited! I grew up watching American Idol, so it’s definitely a huge honor to be featured on such a fantastic and long running show!
AN: What was it like, the very first time you stepped out on a stage to perform for a large audience?
SB: Extremely scary. I remember spending the night trying to talk myself out of performing, so safe to say, I was definitely a little freaked out. But once I got up there, I felt completely at ease and at home, so I think it was an interesting combination of excitement, nerves, and realization of my love for music.
AN: Who is your favorite artist and why?
SB: I think Ed Sheeran would have to be my favorite artist. He has always been extremely descriptive in the way he writes his lyrics as they not only tell a story, but paint a picture in the mind of the listener. That’s something that I’ve always found inspiring and honest, so I’ve tried to keep that same honesty and description in my own lyrics.
AN: What would you like to see happening in your future?
SB: I’m definitely hoping to get some new music out soon, and to hopefully get signed as well, but mainly just to share my music with as many people as I possibly can! We’ll see where the world takes me!
