This holiday season, L.A.’s favorite spot for live music, the Walt Disney Concert Hall, will be alive with the sounds of celebration featuring a stellar line up of concerts ranging from choral gems to gospel, jazz, soul, and more.
Kicking off the “Deck The Hall” series on December 17th, “A Chanticleer Christmas” will feature the exquisite voices of Chanticleer. Performing an eclectic repertoire ranging from Medieval/Renaissance to spirituals/contemporary, the stunningly beautiful singing of this “orchestra of voices” is sure to spark the Christmas spirit.
On December 18th, the beautiful and majestic Walt Disney Concert Hall organ will bring devotional and festive holiday favorites to life in an evening concert at 8pm. Guests are encouraged to come early for a pre-concert Winter Wonderland Party with complimentary hot chocolate, coffee, photos and Santa. In the mood to raise your voice and belt out some holiday favorites? On Saturday, December 19th the organ, along with a choir and a jazz combo will accompany attendees in a fun holiday sing-along.
Jazz fans mark your calendar for the December 21st when the hot, cool, sensational Count Basie Orchestra puts a jazzy spin on holiday favorites. The legendary 16 to 18 piece Count Basie Orchestra founded by Count Basie in 1935 is one of the most prominent jazz performing bands in history. This is sure to be a toe tapping evening with conductor Scotty Barnhart cooking up a swinging Christmas celebration including holiday favorites, and the best of the Basie Band tunes with guest vocalist Carmen Bradford.
Celebrate the season on December 22, with one of the greatest holiday films of all time! With on-screen lyrics, you can sing along with the immortal Bing Crosby, Danny Kaye, Rosemary Clooney and Vera Ellen performing such iconic classics by Irving Berlin as “The Best Things Happen When You’re Dancing,” “Snow,” “Sisters” and, of course, “White Christmas.”
An uplifting, colorful, and lively blend of African, gospel, spirituals, reggae and American popular music with the sensational Soweto Gospel Choir will be featured on December 23. This two time Grammy winning South African ensemble was formed to celebrate the unique and inspirational power of African Gospel music. Drawing on the best talent from the many churches in and around Soweto, the choir is dedicated to sharing the joy of faith through music with audiences around the world.
