Former front man of legendary rock band Foreigner, Lou Gramm performed a sold out show at The Canyon Club in Agoura Hills on Friday night much to the delight of the packed out audience. Proving that real and heartfelt music never gets old, the Rochester, N.Y. native performed some of the biggest hits of his career including; “I Want To Know What Love Is,” “Waiting For A Girl Like You,” “Urgent,” “Cold As Ice” and “Juke Box Hero” to name a few. His dynamic band also did an excellent job grasping the classic sound, while at the same time giving their own personal touches to the set list.
The Canyon Club located in Agoura Hills, is known for hosting some amazing shows with the most iconic names in music such as Blondie, Pat Benatar and Air Supply. Hundreds of people of all demographics, filled the venue for Lou Gramm’s concert while reminiscing over some early and classic Foreigner footage that could be seen on an overhead projector. Lou Gramm who joined Foreigner in the 70’s and co-wrote quite a few of their hits sounded phenomenal and could easily give other artists out there today a run for their money, who struggle to perform live or even lip sync their performances. Known for his incredible vocal range, Lou Gramm hit all those same high notes live, which have cemented his name into music history as one of the best vocalists in the world, making him a living legend.
Aside from his stellar years in Foreigner, Lou Gramm also had a successful solo career releasing his first album Ready or Not in 1987, which received rave reviews and a top five single with the breezy hit Midnight Blue. He then followed this up with his second solo album Long Hard Look with the single “Just Between You and Me” reaching the top ten. In 2013, Lou Gramm was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame along with his former Foreigner band mate Mick Jones, for their exceptional songwriting skills. When asked by Examiner his thoughts about other artists covering his songs including Mariah Carey with her version of “I Want To Know What Love Is” back in 2009, Lou Gramm had nothing but kind words to say and praised her for her amazing vocals.
Aside from touring, there is also the possibility of new music coming out in 2016 from Lou Gramm which will no doubt be amazing. It was truly a pleasure to watch such a fantastic show and have the opportunity to interview such an icon in music who at the same time, is incredibly humble and one of the nicest people you will ever meet. Here’s to continued success for this legendary artist and for those who have yet to see Lou Gramm perform live don’t miss the opportunity to witness greatness.
Thank you to The Canyon Club, Paradise Artists and The Albright Entertainment Group for making this all possible.
