The Virginia vs. Louisville live stream online and televised men’s basketball game on Saturday afternoon features two of the top 20 teams in the nation battling it out within the ACC. This 2016 NCAA matchup has the No. 11 Cavaliers visiting the No. 16 Cardinals in an early preview of two teams capable of making deep runs in the NCAA tournament. UVA has struggled within conference play, so this will be a measuring stick of whether or not they can win an important conference game while playing away from home. A win by the Cardinals could boost them up higher in the rankings again as they head towards March. The 2016 NCAA basketball live streaming and televised action comes via CBS Sports.
According to ESPN.com in their Jan. 29 game preview, the Louisville Cardinals currently lead the ACC in terms of points allowed by opponents with only 60.1 points per game on average allowed. They also rank third in the entire nation in field-goal percentage defense, holding opponents to 36.9 percent shooting per game. The Cardinals also rank at No. 15 in the nation when it comes to their own shooting, as they average 49.1 percent field goal shooting. Coach Rick Pitino hasn’t been too happy with the team’s efforts after a so-so game against Virginia Tech, and in the past eight games they’ve shot just 44.7 percent from the floor. Saturday they’ll take on an opponent who has been struggling on the road after being ranked among the top 10 teams in the country.
The Cavaliers are coming into this matchup on a three-game winning streak and that includes a buzzer-beater to win a road game at Wake Forest 72-71 this past Tuesday. Virginia’s defense looked subpar in the game, as they allowed 70 points to the Demon Deacons, the most they’ve allowed any opponent all season. Nonetheless, the Cavs staged a 10-point comeback and needed Darius Thompson’s late three-pointer to grab a crucial win. Virginia is currently 16-4 overall and sixth in the ACC, with Pittsburgh, Miami (FL), Clemson, Louisville and North Carolina above them in the standings. All of the team’s losses have been on the road, including two-straight this month to unranked ACC foes Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech.
The Cardinals will be six-point home favorites on the point spread for Saturday afternoon’s game. The Cardinals have gone 8-8-0 against the spread overall, but are 7-3-0 against the number at home. For the Cavaliers, they’re 7-11-0 overall against the spread and a disappointing 1-6-0 ATS on the road. The over/under points total for Saturday’s contest will be right around 128 to 130 points for the complete game. Both teams are listed amongst potential NCAA Tournament winners on the future odds list. Louisville is currently tied for sixth overall with Purdue at 16 to 1 odds, while Virginia has odds of 25 to 1, tying them for ninth with Arizona right now.
