Hummingbirds are known as the other pollinator. These colorful birds represent a very important part of our food chain. Honeybees do their work of pollinating all the fruits, vegetables, nuts, and berries we love. Hummingbirds pollinate many botanicals with red, orange, or yellow long tubular flowering with a lot of nectar. These birds are attracted to large deposits of sucrose which tend to be unscented. This process of bird pollination is known as Ornithophily. Where honeybees tend to pollinate more locally, hummingbirds can pollinate and cross pollinate over long distances between flora. Most plants do not flower at all during the Fall and Winter months. In order to keep hummingbirds happy, it is a good idea to have a hummingbird feeder and filled during all months of the year. The migration patterns of hummingbirds vary from type and location.
