Flying out from Washington D.C., my destination was Las Vegas for the “fight of the century” between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. During my stay, I was able to get around town and cruise the strip in the convertible 2015 Ford Mustang. The 2015 Ford Mustang marks the model’s 50th anniversary so Ford has given the options of a muscle-bound V8, a powerful V6 and an EcoBoost four-cylinder model. The four cylinder cranks out 310 hp and up to 320 pound-feet of torque, getting about 26 mpg combined. The 3.7-liter V6 is known as the entry-level Mustang, while the V8 is a 5.0-liter GT model. All models come with either a six-speed manual transmission or a six-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters. The convertible, 3.7-liter V6, six-speed automatic transmission model treated me well during my stay.
There is so much to do in Las Vegas instead of just riding up and down the strip and gambling. Open roads, Lake Las Vegas and many scenic routes are just a few gems that Las Vegas has to offer. Upon first sight of the 2015 Ford Mustang V6, you will notice the 17-inch alloy wheels, xenon headlights and LED taillights. Each of these accents graciously flow with the décor of the Vegas night lights. The 2015 Ford Mustang also has limited-slip rear differential, keyless ignition and entry, integrated blind-spot mirrors, cruise control, air-conditioning, full power accessories, a tilt-and-telescoping leather-wrapped steering wheel, a rearview camera, the Sync voice control system that is built in a 4.2-inch multifunction display and a six-speaker sound system with a CD player, two USB ports and an auxiliary audio jack.
The model tested was a 3.7-liter V6 engine with 300 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque that is pretty standard on the base Mustang. I didn’t get the boost from the V6 that the V8 GT model would have given me, but I enjoyed the power on the straightaways as well as the curvy roads. As far as gas mileage goes, this model comes in at 21 mpg combined (17 city/28 highway) for the manual version while the automatic version rates 22 combined (19 city/28 highway).
Ford spared no expense in the safety department in 2015. Standard safety features include antilock disc brakes, traction and stability control, a rearview camera, front-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags (coupe only) and a driver’s knee airbag. Ford also has their own MyKey system that allows owners to limit the speed and audio volume of the vehicle. This feature is very important for parents of young teenagers getting behind the wheel of this magnificent machine.
Whether in Las Vegas or Washington DC, this 2015 Ford Mustang can escort me around either city with style and comfort. We had a great time in Las Vegas with the electricity of a fight weekend. Staying at the luxurious Venetian hotel, we were surrounded by luxury and style. This amplified the mood to drop the top the on Mustang and hit the streets in excitement. Enjoy the gallery.
