Less than two weeks ago, a young retriever mix named Becca found herself at Broward County Animal Care & Adoption in Fort Lauderdale. Becca could be the perfect family dog. She’s playful, loves other dogs, she’s affectionate and very friendly. Becca’s not too big, at only 43 pounds and she’s only 10-12 months old.
The day before Becca arrived, a younger pup named Tiffany came in to the shelter also. Tiffany is only 6 months old. She’s bubbly and happy, and snuggles all day with her kennel mate. She’s only 30 pounds, and is a loving little girl who is full of affection for everyone she meets.
So you ask, what’s the problem? Two happy, loving, affectionate puppies should be adopted quickly and live happily ever after. Well it seems that both Becca and Tiffany have an easily curable, non-contagious skin condition. Both girls have some resulting hair loss, which is not at all permanent. Their non-contagious condition is easily treated, and these pups hope a family or rescue will step up and choose one of them as soon as possible, since they are both now time-sensitive.
Becca and Tiffany are otherwise happy, and healthy, hoping that their minor skin condition doesn’t keep them from being adopted. Unfortunately, there is no interest so far and the community is concerned that since they have been overlooked, they may be out of time at the shelter.
Both pups wait at the shelter, and can be spayed, vaccinated, microchipped and adopted upon request. The shelter is running an adoption promotion during March with special adoption fees for both dogs and cats.
