Welcome to the getaway spot in the heart of Atlanta. Better known as Universal Salons Salon Suites, it is “a luxurious destination for your beauty needs.” However, it’s not just getaway for the general public since the city has many of those places, though the suites occupants do cater to the public. This is one of the first salon suites catering to the beauty professional, offering concierge services to the beauty professional and those in the industry that needs to present a more professional image that is synonymous with Atlanta and its surrounding communities.
Still in its infancy, Universal Salons Salon Suites is the brainchild of Ms. Kela Taylor, an 11-year insurance veteran who originally hails from Ohio. What she has put together is the ultimate in-city retreat that offers many services including complimentary Wi-Fi, complimentary valet parking, valet towel service, and 24-7 secure access. Setting up shop at this Fowler Street location a few blocks from Atlantic Station, it gives the beauty or other professional a prestigious email and physical address, low-cost insurance coverage and short or long-term leasing availability.
In the world of beauty stylists, suppliers, retailers, shops and other professionals, the image for Atlanta is a perfect place to do business. Especially considering the recent surge in the motion picture and film industry, Universal Salons Suite Salon is seeking to fill a void. Ms. Taylor is that type of concept-builder that comes about because –or despite – the fact that she’s an Atlanta outsider. Though she will point out she did not birth the concept of beauty concierge for industry professionals, she can claim the right to have brought it to Atlanta on the scale she has laid out. As a visionary, her insurance and real estate involvement open the door for another industry she had no real-world knowledge about. Not that this has stopped her considering what she has coming next. But that’s just how she rolls.
Ms. Taylor has accomplished in her young lifetime what others are still trying to achieve: a high-profile business she can call her own. The building itself is a 10,200 plus square foot space that is broken into 23 various sized suites. Sometimes it’s hard to see the actual space as a complex because the label itself is misleading. The interior is an ergonomically, sophisticated setting that has been meticulously designed to bring out the best the business needs to function, but also maintaining its own core of specific requirements that will allow the suites to do what it needs in order to bring out the best for everybody.
However, there’s more going on at this Fowler Street complex. Ms. Taylor seized upon the opportunity to incorporate and own the neighboring space attached to the Suites, designing an event space now called The Markee. Open for business to host small gatherings, classes and any other events that come to mind, it is luxurious in its white-and-mirrored interior.
This past Tuesday, the salon in conjunction with Martell Cognac and Sweet Bitch Wines hosted a “Wine Down Walk Through” preview event. It’s been open a year as of April 1 but it’s really no joke. If you’re thinking of expanding your services or are a first time shop owner, Universal Salons Salon Suites is a great move. Take the trip next time you’re in the area to see what’s shaping up on Fowler Street.
