On Dec. 20, Ultra Records announced the celebration of its twentieth anniversary as the Founder and President of Ultra Music, Patrick Moxey along with Senior Vice President and General Manager, David Waxman marked the auspicious occasion with a private, star-studded party held at the trendy Brooklyn venue Output on Dec. 10.
The evening, which exuded an ambiance of familial vibes and, of course, stellar music welcomed fellow Ultra artists: Flosstradamus, London Future, KNOXA, Fred Falke, Paulina, Disco Fries, and Prince Fox who all came out to celebrate the recording label’s monumental influence over the music industry for the past two decades. While in the evening’s backdrop, the sounds of Roger Sanchez, SNBRN, Louie Vega (of Masters At Work), and special guest MK laid the foundation for all of the evening’s revelry to ensue.
Adding to what became a tangible meaningfulness to the atmosphere with the presence of both Roger Sanchez and MK being a part of the Ultra Music family since its inception, (Roger Sanchez with ‘Release Yo’self” (1996) and MK with “Lift Me Up” (1996) ft. Claire Rivers ) both performances appeared to not just be triumphs for Ultra Music, but for dance music as a genre and for the way in which it has thrived in the scope of world over the past twenty years. As both artists appear more so than ever to be the of faces of what has grown into house music and its genre, their success in the dance music industry today makes their initial beginnings with Ultra Records twenty years prior feel all the more poignant.
The recording label, who continues to reign as it signs some of the most influential figures within dance music, holds an impressive roster of milestone releases by artists who include: (listed alphabetically): Avicii, David Guetta, deadmau5, Kaskade, Paul Oakenfold, The Crystal Method, Sasha & John Digweed, Tiësto, Wolfgang Gartner, among numerous others. Coined as one of the most influential executives in electronic dance music, Founder and President of Ultra Music, Patrick Moxey has grown Ultra Records into becoming the premiere dance music label in North America for what has burgeoned into a global phenomenon of the dance music genre.
