The UCONN vs. Colorado live stream online and televised 2016 NCAA Tournament game will be amongst the early first round matchups on Thursday afternoon, featuring two closely-seeded teams. The No. 9 Huskies have been surging at just the right time with some of their best play of the season coming as the team made a run to win the conference tournament. The No. 8 Buffaloes finished fifth in a talented Pac-12 conference this season and come into this matchup off a four-point loss to Arizona in the Pac-12 Tournament quarterfinals. Now these two teams that excel at free throw shooting and defense will do battle, with the winner moving on to a potential matchup against No. 1 seed Kansas. The 2016 NCAA Tournament live streaming and TV action arrives through TNT networks.
According to The Hartford Courant in a March 16 report, the biggest key to the Huskies’ success in their American Athletic Conference Tournament win was the re-emergence of sophomore Daniel Hamilton. He’d gone just 23-for-87 on his shooting during a 15-game stretch in December and January, but all that was behind him as the team made its latest surge towards March Madness. During the three AAC games that UCONN won to claim the tournament championship, Hamilton had a total of 63 points, 24 rebounds and 16 assists to earn the outstanding player award for the tournament. Hamilton told the media of his recent play, “I think I’m playing my best basketball right now. And it’s just confidence, me being there, being able to trust my teammates and my teammates trusting me.”
He’ll lead the No. 9-seeded Huskies against the No. 8 Buffaloes, who were 22-11 on their season. The two teams shared one common opponent this season in Connecticut’s AAC foe SMU. Both teams have a loss to them, with SMU defeating Colorado 70-66 in Las Vegas back on Dec. 24 and SMU routing UCONN 80-54 on March 4 in Dallas. However, the Huskies also have a home win against SMU 68-62 this past season. Right now, UCONN is tied for No. 15 in the nation in terms of points allowed, as they give up just 63.2 per game to opponents. The Buffaloes rank at No. 4 in the nation in rebounding, pulling down just over 42 boards per contest. The two teams excel at free throw shooting, so should it be a close game late it could come into play depending on which team has more foul trouble.
Despite the Buffaloes being seeded a slot higher, they’ll be 3-1/2 point underdogs against UCONN in Des Moines, Iowa. Against the spread this season, the Huskies have been 20-14 overall and 16-10 as the favorite while Colorado is 21-12 overall and 8-5 as the underdog team. As of Wednesday evening, Bovada LV online sports book had Connecticut at -165 on the moneyline and Colorado priced at +145. Thursday’s over/under points total will be about 132 points for the complete game, so unless this goes four overtimes like a recent UCONN conference tourney game with Cincinnati did, this could be a tight defensive matchup in Des Moines.
