What is Fox up to? Entertainment Weekly is reporting that Fox is scheduling two untitled Marvel films for 2017 and 2018. What could they be?
It’s very likely that the 2018 slot will be filled by the sequel to “Deadpool”. But there is speculation that the 2017 slot will most likely be “Gambit” as that film has been moved from its original Oct 2016 position.
The “Deadpool” sequel is no surprise as it has claimed over 500 million dollars in the world wide box office making it the highest grossing X-Men film ever. But what about X-Force? Ryan Reynolds has claimed that the X-Force movie is his next priority. The only information that exists about X-Force is a rumor that Jeff Wadlow, known for his work on “Kick-Ass 2”, will be writing and directing.
There is speculation that X-Force could be the sequel to “Deadpool”. Obviously X-Force is in development and it most likely won’t be ready for 2018 but I’ll say this much; I was a huge fan of the comic series, especially around 2008-2010 with Chris Yost and Craig Kyle as the writers. There was a good chunk of the story where the team had to go into the future and deal with Apocalypse. Great storyline and although Deadpool still provided some comic relief there was also some moments of pathos as well.
However, it’s all rumors for now. The point is, hopefully X-Force will soon pop up on their slate if it hasn’t already.
