Doors tribute bands aren’t a new phenomena, they’ve been around for the past 30 years. However, there seems to be a new trend happening, some bands are doing one off tributes to legendary rock groups and The Doors seem are on these groups’ radar. Here’s a couple of bands that will be devoting an evening of Doors music for fans:
The first is the Jukebox Heroes in Metairie, Louisiana, who will be playing at the Twist of Lime (2820 Lime St., Metairie, Louisiana, 70006) on May 21. Jukebox Heroes is Chris Tarride and Justin Molaison who will be joined by Billy Shirer and Ted Torres of Monkeybird Express to present their evening of Doors songs.
A bigger scale proposition is the group Classic Albums Live who will present The Doors album “L.A. Woman” July 16 at the Hard Rock Live in Orlando, Florida and December 3 at Centennial Hall in London, Ontario. Producer Craig Martin is the man behind the concept of Classic Albums Live who has assembled an ensemble group of rock musicians and classical musicians to perform classic albums live onstage. Classic Albums Live has brought to the stage Pink Floyd (“The Wall“, “Dark Side of the Moon”), Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles, and Jimi Hendrix to name a few. The motto for Classic Albums Live is “Note for note. Cut for cut” and when watching videos of Classic Albums Live you can see they strive to a high level in presenting the songs and albums to the bands they pay tribute to.
