The Tullamore D.E.W. Irish True Pub Tour kicks-off today, “St. Practice Day,” one month before St. Patrick’s Day. Led by Tullamore D.E.W. brand ambassador and Irish pub historian, Tim Herlihy, the month-long adventure will see Herlihy travel the country in search of the best ways to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day in all 50 states (and D.C.). Aboard trains, planes and automobiles, Herlihy will sweep the nation, visiting towns and people that have contributed to making March 17th a great day to raise a glass of Irish whiskey. Herlihy’s journey will include:
- Meeting the regulars at some of America’s oldest Irish pubs
- Caffeinating at the birthplace of the Irish Coffee
- Pairing a D.E.W. and a brew in Honolulu’s “Irish Corner”
- Paying a visit to the world’s largest Shamrock
- Learning the secrets behind the world’s shortest St. Patrick’s Day parade and the world’s largest pub crawl
While on tour, Tullamore D.E.W. and Herlihy will debut Tullamore D.E.W. Trilogy, a 15 year old Irish whiskey that is a new permanent addition to the brand’s range in the US (RRP $79.99). Inspired by the power of three that defines Tullamore D.E.W. – a blend of three whiskeys that is three times distilled – Trilogy is matured in three cask types of three unique woods (ex-bourbon, Oloroso Sherry, and rum casks) and is the oldest Tullamore D.E.W. Irish whiskey released to date.
The month-long activation will include a combination of consumer tastings, bartender events and specialty Tullamore D.E.W. cocktail promotions at participating bars across the country. Herlihy will start in Los Angeles and finish in New York City on St. Patrick’s Day with a celebration at The Dead Rabbit, named The World’s Best Cocktail Bar at Tales of the Cocktail 2015. Additionally, the Tullamore D.E.W. Irish True Pub Tour will officially conclude with a nationwide toast to true character at 3:33PM on St. Patrick’s Day, at which time pubs across the country and those part of the tour will raise a collective glass of Tullamore D.E.W. The time 3:33 pays tribute to the triple blend of whiskeys that was pioneered by Tullamore D.E.W. and is responsible for its smooth, complex character.
