February is the most romantic month of the year. Visit Raleigh released this week some favorite spots to spend a date night from smart, savvy locals. But, there is always a negative to Valentine’s Day. Often, this love-bird designated holiday is the most crowded day/weekend of the year for restaurants and hotels. We think you should spread the love, and enjoy romance any time of the year. Take a cue from these romantic hotels and inns in Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill, North Carolina
The Fearrington House Inn and Restaurant
Located in Pittsboro, N.C., this luxury, country inn ranks high on the scale of romance. The Fearrington House Inn combines the luxury and service associated with a Forbes Five-Star, AAA Five Diamond, Relais & Chateaux property and the charm of the South. When you check-in, you never want to leave. With tranquil gardens and five-star dining, it’s a popular spot for weddings, proposals, and reconnecting with your spouse. Traditional afternoon tea and breakfast are included in the rates. Now through Feb. 28, the Inn is offering a special winter package including a three-course dinner at the Inn’s main restaurant. Standard rates begin at $510 per night for Wednesday through Sunday stays.
The Siena Hotel, An Autograph Collection Hotel by Marriott
The Siena Hotel is a special gem in the college town of Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Designed to resemble a Tuscan villa, the Siena embodies Italian romance at every turn with its architecture and decor. As North Carolina’s only AAA Four-Diamond Italian restaurant, Il Palio, is a world-class culinary treat. With Italian-inspired guest room, and large dining tables in the suites, you may want to stay in and order room service. Rates begin at $189 per night.
Pink is everywhere during the month of February, however at the 21cMuseum Hotel, you’ll find its iconic hot pink (fuschia) penguin every day of the week. This new boutique hotel is the heart of downtown Durham, North Carolina, and occupies the historic Hill building, which used to be a bank. The hotel uses the newly-decorated bank vault for special events, and it would be a great spot for that perfect proposal. We’re banking on your lover saying, “Yes!” 21cMusuem offers a romance package with a $100 credit to its signature restaurant, The Counting House, a bottle of bubbly, rose petal turndown, and comfy 21c robes. Rates for this package begin at $510 for one night.
The Mayton Inn
With the opening of the Mayton Inn in February, Greater Raleigh welcomed its first luxury boutique property in downtown Cary, North Carolina. This charming and elegant eco-friendly hotel is named after the historic Mayton House, an arts and crafts style home with a wrap-around porch that was located on the property. The hotel with seven distinct room styles oozes pampering and luxury. The hotel has a full-service restaurant, afternoon tea service, and spa. Rates begin at $200 per night with breakfast.
