La Nouba is the Cirque du Soleil show at Disney Springs; it’s been a popular entertainment option since 1998, and it’s recently added several new acts. If you’ve seen it in the past, it’s the perfect time to return and enjoy the new parts. If you’ve never seen it before, it’s an amazing entertainment experience that the whole family is sure to love. Read more about the new acts here.
If you do decide to go to La Nouba, here are my top five tips to make the most of your evening:
Choose a Seat Halfway Up
Choose a seat about halfway up in the theater when you book your tickets (book in advance for the best selection). Yes, I know the front row sounds appealing, and it does have its charms. It puts you literally right smack dab in the thick of the show. However, I personally recommend sitting higher up to get a broader view of the stage. One of La Nouba’s charms is that it has things going on in the center of the stage, above it, and off to the sides…often all at one. Being farther back gives you a wide angle to catch it all.
Arrive at the show early. Performances start at 6 and 9 p.m., and I recommend arriving at Disney Springs an hour beforehand. That gives you plenty of time to get to the theater, use the conveniently located restrooms, and browse the gift shop before the doors open about half an hour prior to show time. If you get inside early, you’ll have time to find your seat, get settled, grab refreshments, and make a potty stop before show time. Be in your seat by 15 minutes before the scheduled start because the two Pablos start pre-show antics right around that time. You won’t want to miss them! The show itself runs 90 minutes, with no intermission, so that’s why I mentioned pre-show potty breaks twice.
If you’re staying at a Disney resort and relying on the buses, build in a time cushion in case it takes a while for your Disney Springs bus to arrive. If you’re driving. there might be traffic congestion on I-4, but once you get to Disney Springs, parking should be a breeze in the garage or the surface lot right by the La Nouba theater.
Make an Evening of It
Make an evening of it on the day of the show. The Cirque du Soleil tent is a Disney Springs landmark, but La Nouba is just one entry in the Disney Springs entertainment line-up. It’s surrounded by shops, restaurants, bars, and live entertainment at various venues. Come early and stay late; go shopping before the show, ride an Amphibicar, go up in a balloon, have dinner or drinks. Afterward, belly up to one of the bars, eat or snack, or enjoy entertainment at Raglan Road or one of the other spots with bands. Read about my four favorite spots to visit here.
There’s actually enough to do at Disney Springs for a full day, so save a day on your theme park tickets and enjoy everything it has to offer.
Visit the Gift Shop
Don’t miss the gift shop for a great souvenir selection. I mentioned visiting the gift shop as something to do if you arrive to La Nouba early. It’s open all day, so pop in and browse while you’re waiting for the theater to open or after the show. In addition to the usual t-shirts, mugs, and DVDs, the shop has quirky items like clown noses and costume props that make unique souvenirs. Want a discount? That’s in tip #5.
For a special treat, book L’Experience, the VIP way to see La Nouba. It’s a bit pricey at $250 per person, but that includes early access to the theater, front and center seats, a souvenir popcorn bucket and soft drinks, photos with a La Nouba performer, a look at some backstage areas like costuming, and a 10 percent discount coupon for the store.
