Award-winning Peruvian conductor, Miguel Harth-Bedoya, will offer today his final performance with the Grammy® Award-winning Atlanta Symphony Orchestra.
Miguel Harth-Bedoya returned to the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra after a couple of years of absence to offer a program that includes Peru Negro, a work by also Peruvian native and award-winning composer, Jimmy Lopez. This particular work was commissioned by Miguel Harth-Bedoya for an anniversary of the Forth Worth Symphony. Miguel Harth-Bedoya is this orchestra’s Artistic Director. Composer Jimmy Lopez will be present at today’s performance.
Pianist Vadym Kholodenko will join the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Miguel Harth-Bedoya for Prokofiev’s Piano Concerto No. 3. The program will also include Dvorak’s Symphony No. 7.
According to the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, ‘Peru Negro is a brilliant and thrilling fusion of folk and classical elements. Prokofiev’s Concerto is filled with virtuoso opportunities, as well [as] the ‘ ‘caustic humor’ ‘ often found in Prokofiev’s music. Many consider the Symphony No. 7 to be Dvorak’s finest – it teems with melodic inspiration, high drama and riveting momentum.’
Tickets are still available and start at $20. For more information, please visit the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra website or call the box office.
