With Ethan Carter III’s continued progression as the face of the company and the debut of Mike Bennett, as well as a new X-Division Champion in Trevor Lee, this week’s episode of Impact Wrestling simply got it done. Check out this week’s TNA Impact Wrestling Power Rankings to see who else surprised in an enjoyable episode of Impact Wrestling.
Honorable Mention: Maria: Mrs. Bennett’s promo with Gail Kim is an interesting one that definitely shakes up the Knockouts Division. For years, the division was looked at as the best in women’s wrestling, but with the influx of NXT stars to the WWE’s main roster, the Knockouts Division is in need of a boost. Can Bennett provide one? With “The Miracle” Mike Bennett by her side as well, Maria is sure to have an impact on the company.
Moving Up: The Decay: They have a great look and they definitely compliment one another. Their win in an eight-man tag match makes them look solid and gives them some momentum, but these guys need more than heel tactics and Great Muta Mist. They need a wild double-team finish and some promo time.
5: Bobby Lashley: His win over the bruiser Aiden O’Shea was a solid one, but if anything it was unspectacular in the fact that Lashley is a special attraction. He needs to be in a real angle. He is and will always be one of the most dominant performers on the Impact roster and his involvement with Raquel gives him a layer of charisma he’s never had. If done properly, this could elevate the former TNA World Heavyweight Champion big time.
4: Trevor Lee: One of the best young independent wrestlers in the world, Lee, who has already been a TNA Tag Team Champion, defeated Tigre Uno for the X-Division Championship this week on Impact and as a result, has plenty to look forward to this year. With Shane Helms by his side, the room for growth is there and together, they can form a solid tandem.
3: Drew Galloway: With a shot at the TNA World Heavyweight Championship whenever he wants, Galloway’s stock is incredibly high, but he’s going to have to deal with former ROH and NJPW star Mike Bennett first. If anything, it should be a fantastic in-ring feud and with Maria’s help, have plenty of drama.
2: Ethan Carter III: You’ve got to love the face turn from Carter. Super honest with the fans, it’s hard not to like Carter now. Now the hunter, ECIII has the fan’s support and once he gets a rematch with Matt Hardy, things will be much different.
1: Matt Hardy: He’s still the champion, but how long can he stay out of the clutches of Ethan Carter III?
