On Wednesday morning, a good Samaritan spotted a tiny dog struggling to walk in the vicinity of the Wyandotte County Lake near Merriam, Kansas. Just hours later the seven pound emaciated dog, including the weight of her tumor, was turned over to the Great Plains SPCA Veterinary Care Center. Abandoned and afraid, little Foxy is now safe.
Veterinarians who examined Foxy found her to be dehydrated; they are currently awaiting the results of tests about her tumor. She will definitely need surgery, but in the meantime the friendly little dog is receiving lots of love and appropriate care. The mass emanates from her chest, and at this time, keeping Foxy comfortable is the organization’s top priority. “We hope to learn more about her condition tomorrow after other tests are run and we will keep everyone updated on her road to recovery. If you would like to donate towards her care, you can do so here.
If anyone recognizes Foxy, please email, firstname.lastname@example.org. Her diagnosis and subsequent recovery can be followed on the organization’s Facebook page by clicking here. More than 500 readers have commented, with the majority stating animal cruelty laws in Kansas must be stronger in order to protect the voiceless like Foxy.
