Known as the oldest and original cookie tour in New England, participants will not only tour 11 inns decked in all their holiday finery offering signature decorations, holiday cookies and candies and go home with a collection of recipes. Guests of the inns participating in the tour will receive a collector’s ornament custom-made for this tour locally by Glass Graphics of Conway, NH. Chosen by editors of New Hampshire Magazine as “The Best Sugar High”, this annual Cookie Tour is the ultimate cookie walk.
New this year, students of the Kennett High School Culinary Program will be assigned to the inns to help in the baking and serving of cookies. Offering the perfect insight into a day in the life of an innkeeper, students will get a real taste for what it takes to run an inn (pun intended!). In exchange for their help, the Country Inns in the White Mountains will make a $500 donation to the Kennett Culinary Program.
Each of the 11 inns on the 19th Annual Inn to Inn Cookie & Candy Tour will feature original holiday cookies and candies, along with exquisite decorations offering tour goers the bonus of taking home holiday decorating ideas as well as scrumptious cookie and candy recipes for themselves. The participating inns have developed original recipes for everything from sweet to savory holiday treats, with each inn featuring a new recipe for this year’s tour, so those that return year after year will be treated to new sweet treats!
The tour stretches from Harts Location, to Eaton, NH and Fryeburg, Maine, with an anticipated 11 inns opening their doors to those in search of fabulous holiday treats, recipes and decorating ideas. No inn is more than fifteen minutes from the next, with many much closer. To date the inns participating in the tour this year include the Darby Field Inn in Albany; Inn at Crystal Lake and Pub in Eaton; Notchland Inn in Hart’s Location; Glen Oaks Inn in Intervale; Inn at Ellis River in Jackson; 1785 Inn, Eastman Inn, Old Red Inn & Cottages in North Conway, Snowvillage Inn in Snowville, and Admiral Peary Inn Bed & Breakfast in nearby Fryeburg, Maine. New this year, the Cranmore Inn in North Conway will join the list of cookie tour participating inns.
Additionally, during the cookie tour, the Inn at Crystal Lake will feature an artisan craft fair and gift basket auction in conjunction with the Eaton (NH) Community Circle. Bag lunches are also available across the street at the Little White Church and monies raised benefit the scholarship fund for Eaton students. It’s the perfect place to find that unique holiday item for the hard-to-shop-for person on your list.
