On Sunday, April 3, Hermann Park in Houston will have its Third Annual Kite Festival. The festival will take place on Miller Hill and by the Jones Reflection Pool. It will last from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. and is free.
Several thousand kite-flyers are expected at the event, and the sky will be filled with kites in all shapes and sizes. Kites will be available for sale as well, but there may be limited quantities. In addition to kites, the festival will feature stage performances, balloon artists, face painting, and fun free activities for kids of all ages. Concessions and food trucks will be on hand throughout the festival. For those families with pets, the festival is dog-friendly, and dogs (on leashes) are welcome to attend.
Due to the expected high turn-out, please plan on using alternative transportation to the Park. Parking spots are extremely limited. Attendees can part off-site and use the MetroRail to the Hermann Park/Rice University station or pay for parking at the Memorial Hermann Medical Plaza Garage or the Rice University Stadium.
