Planning a wedding is a long, stressful undertaking. Therefore I will keep this piece as brief and straight to the point as possible. That way you can be out finding the perfect wedding photographer for your big day in minutes.
Choose a Photographer with Reputation
If you have the budget there is no substitute for a wedding photographer with a great reputation. Firstly you will have piece of mind that there will be no mistakes. Plus you can expect your final photos and videos to be stunning. Also you will receive a professional service, which means the actual photographer(s) will be barely noticeable on the day, plus they will be able to use their expertise to frame the perfect shots.
Some photographers have such a good reputation that only royalty can afford their services. Don’t be alarmed though, you can still get superb photos at any budget. Just decide what you are willing to spend and then look for the most reputable photographer within the limit. Even if you are on a budget there are some excellent value photographers to be found. If they don’t have lots of testimonials at least have a good look through their portfolio of past work and ask plenty of questions when you meet.
Choose a Local Photographer
We would all love the top photographers from London, Milan and Paris. However they will never be good value for money. With all your other wedding expenses; you really want to balance the budget for this carefully. Choosing a local photographer will save you on expensive travel and hotel costs. Plus a travelling photographer may add on for other expenses such as childcare, food and drink, plus lost work time whilst traveling to and being at your event. Remember these guys don’t travel light.
Make Sure You Share a Vision
Photographers are artists. They create photos and videos for you to treasure forever. There are certain times when going black and white is a good idea, or terrible one. This is just one example: many photographers will shoot in a way which allows them to greatly manipulate the images later. By ensuring that you are both on the same page; your photographer will be able to use his editing software to add certain color, contrast and other elements to create a certain “look”.
Lighting is the single biggest concern for a photographer and if you want a bright sparkly event; your photographer needs to know this. It may be that they need to add lighting for certain shots. On the other hand if you want a vintage look then a photographer may add some “grain” to images and make them less sharp. There are a wide range of creative options open, so be sure you discuss your chosen theme, so that your vision becomes a reality.
