‘Shawn’ (Devon Martinez) wasn’t expected to give birth to ‘David’ this week. But, she went into labor as ‘Sharon’ (Sharon Case) was talking with her about ‘Cassie’s’ (Camryn Grimes) adoption at Crimson Lights. The premature birth naturally pushed ‘Nick’ (Joshua Morrow) and ‘Sage’s’ (Kelly Sullivan) panic buttons on ‘The Young and the Restless’, as yet another life and death situation came to fruition.
‘Sharon’ didn’t know that ‘Nick’ hadn’t told ‘Shawn’ the details about ‘Cassie’s’ early life. That conversation likely didn’t cause ‘Shawn’ to go into labor at the coffee house. However, ‘Sage’s’ emotions have remained raw since ‘Christian’s’ supposed death. So, it was somewhat understandable that she lashed out at ‘Sharon’ in the hallway at Genoa City Memorial Hospital. ‘Sage’ believed that the ‘Cassie’ conversation put her soon-to-be adopted son’s life in jeopardy. ‘Sage’s’ concerns should be quickly soothed, as ‘David’s’ time inside his biological mother’s womb appeared to be within the range of a viable birth.
‘Shawn’s’ background remains sketchy. Various new YR characters have backstories that are intentionally connected to the lives within this fictional setting. In this instance, viewers might wonder if this young lady is linked to the Santori family, or could be one of ‘Victor’s’ previously unknown children?
With whatever proves to be true, if anything, regarding ‘Shawn’s’ genetics, some other pressing questions remain unanswered. Will she opt to keep ‘David’? If she does allow him to be adopted, might ‘Nick’ and ‘Sage’ allow her to live with them, on a short-term basis, in order to make sure that she’s okay? And, of course, what happens when ‘Christian’ is revealed as ‘Sully’?
