The USA Today site reported on Feb. 21 that tonight’s special will give viewers a tour of Disneyland in Anaheim, California, as the park that first opened back in 1955 celebrates 60 years. Other celebrity guests expected to appear or perform will include actress Kristen Bell, Viola Davis, Harrison Ford, Helen Miren, Lupita Nyong’o, Dick Van Dike and Idina Menzel. Derek Hough and Witney Carson of “DWTS” fame will both be a part of the celebration, a will Elton John, known for his “Can You Feel the Love” theme for “The Lion King.” This diamond anniversary of the Walt Disney Company and its visionary, creator Walt Disney, will be celebrated in grand fashion with parades, behind the scenes tours and special technological effects to dazzle viewers.
Also of interest for tonight’s viewers who are fans of “Star Wars,” will be the fact that tonight’s special provides a preview of the plans for the new “Star Wars”-themed land that will span many acres for the park in California. That could explain the appearances of Harrison Ford, well known for his role as “Han Solo” in multiple “Star Wars” films and Nyong’o who appears in the newest “Force Awakens” film, the seventh in the franchise. The park will have the new sci-fi inspired land across 14 acres with featured attractions such as a Millennium Falcon that guests can control on a secret mission, as well as a First Order versus the Resistance-themed battle that guests can participate in.
