The PGA Tour stops at Torrey Pines this week for the Farmers Insurance Open so golfers heading to Virtual Sports Zone will be able to play the same course on the indoor playground’s High Definition Golf simulators as the pros are on the west coast of the U.S.
The Torrey Pines layout in San Diego, CA, flanks the jagged coastline of the Pacific Ocean offering magnificent views and was the site of Tiger Wood’s last major victory in 2008 when he defeated Rocco Mediate in a playoff. It is one of more than 25 famous courses to choose from at VSZ.
Meanwhile, news out of Virtual Sports Zone includes the announcement of a seventh machine becoming available for bookings and High Definition Golf reports that Bubba Watson recently joined a long list of professional players who’ve had their system installed in his home. Watson will be able to use the Video Swing Analysis module that uses high-speed cameras (120 frames per second) with special wide-angle lenses to capture swing data.
Here are the number of High Definition Golf simulators available this week at Virtual Sports Zone:
- Monday – Three machines can be booked throughout the day.
- Tuesday – No machines available.
- Wednesday – Two machines open throughout the day.
- Thursday – One machine open from noon until midnight.

Virtual Sports Zone owner Donald Prezeau says players can always munch on premium hot dogs or pizza from Jumbo Pizza at VSZ and that he will welcome men and women players to a Super Bowl party on Feb. 7 when Denver and Carolina go at it in the big game’s 50th edition. The fun begins at 6 p.m. and includes nine or 18 holes, two slices of pizza and a pop for $20. He also has a Valentine’s Day offer happening for couples that features half-price games for the ladies.
Meanwhile, golfers can turn their attention between shots this week to the large screen TV for Ottawa Senators and Montreal Canadiens games. It’s a light week since next weekend is All-Star Weekend in Nashville. The Senators play Buffalo on Tuesday while the Canadiens visit Columbus tonight then host the Blue Jackets on Tuesday.
Virtual Sports Zone is open from 9 a.m. until midnight on weekdays and from 8 a.m. until midnight on weekends. The indoor virtual playground is located at 733 rue Industrielle, Units 3-4, in Rockland.
