The Village Voice held its 3rd Holiday Spirits cruise event on the Hornblower Infinity Ship on Pier 40 in New York recently. The event featured over 25 distilleries, wineries and more from New York and beyond serving tastings of their brands. There were many tasting stations.
Participants were Bacardi, Blat Vodka, Barrilito 3 Stars, Cooperstown, Distillery, Don Q, Four Roses Bourbon, Nahmias et Fils, Suerte Tequila, and Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Asahi Beer, Atsby Vermouth, Barefoot Wine & Bubbly, Barrow’s Intense Ginger Liqueur, Denning’s Point Distillery, Breuckelen Distilling, Brooklyn Gin, Brooklyn Winery, Hood River Distillers, Iron Smoke Whiskey, Kings County Distillery, Port Morris Distillery, Prairie Organic Vodka, Prohibition Distillery, Queens Courage Gin, Rums of Puerto Rico, Sag Harbor Rum, Scorpion Mezcal, Tanteo Spirits, Tuthilltown Spirits and Van Brunt Stillhouse. The stations provided tastings of the different spirits and the attendees had a variety to choose from.
The event included a complimentary buffet dinner, live salsa, DJ and a NY Harbor Cruise. The complimentary buffet and passed hor d’oeuvres included a variety of delicious dishes that paired well with the tasty libations. The tastings were all unique and pleasing to the palate. Entertainment was provided on all three decks, with a live salsa band on the top deck Rums of Puerto Rico Lounge and DJ sets all night by Tim Martell. Originally a house and electronic music DJ, Tim Martell first hit the decks at 14. By 19, he held the main floor residency at New York City’s legendary Limelight. Tim is a featured DJ for the Tribeca Film Festival, visited over 30 cities on the AND1 Mixtape Tour, opened for Beyonce & Robin Thicke, performed at Shaun White’s X-Games Gold After Party, and spun at MTV’s official after party for the VMA’s and more.

The Village Voice 3rd Holiday Spirits Cocktail Cruise was a swirl of spirits, specialty cocktails and merriment. Make sure you don’t miss next year’s event. I strongly recommend it.
