In the last episode, we get a new crossover event for SVU and Chicago PD as the convict Yates (the one who killed Nadia) escapes and is on the run and both squads look to bring him down. This is the first of hopefully more than one crossover events that are going to happen this year. In this week’s episode, titled ‘Collateral Damages’, the unit investigate someone who is releasing child pornography but when they find out it’s someone in their unit, they don’t know what to do now.
The show begins with Rollins finally get her chance to get back in the game as she is asked to go undercover with someone from the academy as they try and catch a pro wrestler who may or may not be a rapist. But he has a trump card. He will bring them more child pornographers so that he won’t get in trouble. Don’t think that he knew what kind of fish that he was going to bring in.
When they investigate the new leads, they find that they have to take in one of their own is one of the distributor. It’s the Deputy Commissioner, Hank, who’s been a pain in the butt for SVU for many years. This brings Tucker back to the show as he works with Benson again to bring him in. More to the fact that he wants to make sure that emotions stay out of it and that Hank doesn’t get special treatment.
What is going to be the most interesting is to see how Hank is going to talk his way out of it. He was literally caught red-handed by Rollins and Carisi. All the evidence that they have is not going to be easily explained but of course he’s going to deny everything. This annoys everyone, especially Barba, because it seems like he wants the attention. What makes it worse is how bad it hurts his family. Guess he should have thought of that before he started distributing the pictures.
Since denial wasn’t working, Hank tries to say that he needs help because he’s mentally ill. Its classic of every other person gets caught red-handed. He tries to get a deal, but it’s out of his hands. It’s gone federal and they are the ones that decide. He knows that he’s going to go to jail, so what does he do? He tries to kill himself.
Meanwhile, Dodds is recovering from his injury and he learns that his father is wanting him to move up the chain, even if that means screwing over SVU. Too bad Dodds is loyal to a fault. He tells Benson that he wants to stay.
In the next episode, we get a celebrity who does more than he should have with a woman but there is a SVU twist we won’t see coming.
