Satisfying wanderlust doesn’t have to involve a plane ticket or even a long drive. After a few weeks of staying near Denver, my family I were ready for a hotel night in downtown Denver. A nearby getaway is a wonderful way to be a tourist in your own town too. You may be surprised at what you miss when you take your city for granted. We chose the Ritz-Carlton Denver as our hotel for the night because of its recent renovation. It did not disappoint.
As we experienced during our visit a year ago, the lobby was still beautiful and staff still friendly and professional. There is a quiet to the lobby that is a welcome escape from the city outside.
Our first impression of the rooms (a suite for us lucky parents and a double/double room for our teen children) was a very good one. The rooms were the focus of the renovation with (as I understand it) more to come in future months. Not only did the guest rooms receive a makeover from a cosmetic standpoint, but they were also overhauled in a tech-savvy way. The suite was 100% different from the neutral-toned plush carpeting to the lined drapes and oh-so-comfortable bed. The décor is lovely. Bedrooms in suites are spacious and the connected bathrooms are simply gorgeous. The tub called me and I enjoyed a soak with the supplied fizzy bath bomb while enjoying the marble details that surrounded me. The sofa in the sitting area conveniently makes into a bed, so I highly recommend that families reserve a suite as a viable option instead of two rooms.
The boys loved their room as well, especially the copious USB ports and comfortable chaise. Each was able to plug in several devices. After a moment of enjoying the rooms, we all ventured to the club lounge for evening snacks and a bit of TV watching. I can’t stress enough how much adding a club-level experience heightens the entire hotel experience. The Ritz-Carlton does a fantastic job in their lounges all over the country and this one is no exception. The attendants were attentive and the food – delicious. We stopped back by in the morning for a light breakfast and loved it just as much. When you go, expect to spend some time there. The layout is ideal for relaxing as it is separated into smaller groupings and even a semi-private room or two.
My recommendation: The Ritz-Carlton Denver is a great choice for visitors to Denver as well as Denverites. Don’t hesitate to book your room.
