Folks visiting the Angeles-Rosedale Cemetery in Los Angeles recently were surprised to see the undead had risen and were having a good time. Now, dancing in a graveyard is not an unusual thing for the band “The Rhythm Coffin.” So making a music video there seemed like the most natural thing in the world. “The Zombie Watusi” is the first music video off their newest CD “Ain’t In My Grave Tonight” and it’s a fun, high energy romp in the graveyard! Your Zombie Examiner got to be a zombie dancer (along with a fun group of ghoulies) in the new video and asked the leader of the band Gruesome Gereg a few questions before shuffling off after the shoot. (Gereg you will notice speaks in a variety of horror puns.)
Zombie Examiner: Gereg, how long has “The Rhythm Coffin” been rocking together?
Gruesome Gereg: Spooktacular Salutations Vicki. Fangs so much for looking so ghoul cool and helping out in the video. “The Rhythm Coffin” have been on the L.A. area scene for about nine years now, in various line ups, of corpse.
ZE: I’ve heard your band characterized as a cross between the “Ramones”, “KISS” and the “B52’s”. How do you describe your band, the music and who are all the ghouls?
GG: We play “Monster Rock ‘n Roll” a division of the Horror Rock genre. We play all original music except for covering “The Monster Mash”. With tunes like “The Tombstone Twist”, “The Headless Head Bop”, “The Zombie Watusi” & “Brains, Brains” our high energy shows bring the dead back to life. Our “Ghoulie Girls” Scarrie Carrie & Eerie Emma make it even easier to follow along with the frightful fun as they show you the moves so you can get in the ghoulie groove. Band Members are: Gruesome Gereg- Vocals and Guitar. Scarrie Carrie-Vocals and Ghoulie Girl. Blood Baron Aaron on Bass. Eerie Emma-Vocals and Ghoulie Girl. Tombstone Tony on Drums.
ZE: Is this your first CD and how can someone buy your music?
GG: This is our second CD but we are treating like it’s the first because the first one had a much different line up and sound, plus we don’t want to confuse people about what to listen to and hopefully get. The CD “Ain’t In My Grave Tonight” in hard copy form is available at shows and through the mail, please contact our Facebook page and Scarrie Carrie for postal info. “Ain’t In My Grave Tonight” is available online at most stores including, iTunes, Amazon, Google Play and Spotify, and many more.
ZE: Where can a fan come see you in person?
GG: Right now we are booked March 5th, 2016 at the Halloween Club Spook Show. On March 11th, 2016 we are at the C.I.A. – The California Institute of Abnormalarts. Please check our Facebook page for updates we are always looking for the next Monster Rock n Roll Party!
