There are winners and there are losers in the game of marketing. You can’t get ahead unless you invest in your craft. With that being the case; nothing will ever come to a sleeper but a dream. As the new year rolls to 2016, we take an exclusive look at Independent entertainment groups that are helping talents recognize their full potentials.
Chi-Lou Entertainment is a artist’s management/booking company that is striving to help brand some top prospects in St. Louis and Chicago. Here is their story and the reason why we believe their name will be heard around the Midwest. This is the first of several companies that will be featured here on byteclay.com, we start off with Qualo, founder of Chi-Lou Entertainment.
Rodney Norman: Hello, where did the name Chi-Lou come from?
Qualo Jones: The name came from my son, Anton. When he was born, a lot of my friends use to say, your mother is from St. Louis, and your daddy is from Chicago. So, he was a Chi-Lou baby.
R.N: Where are you based, and with whom are you associated?
Q.J: I am based out of St. Louis, but I have strong ties with Chicago, which is my hometown. My guys from the block 073 May Block, Chop Squad, J Rock, Lil Dave, Johnny May Cash, B Moe, Smiley, Plad Boi Ent., Whoa Boi, Tony Gramz, J Stone Intellectual, Thug and Bang Street, Gutta Gang and Paid 4 Ent., my ace LB.
R.N: Wow, what an association. Now, what do you think about the Independent industry?
Q.J: This business is cut-throat. Some artists support other artists, but the competition level in this field makes it hard to network. Too many people caught up in jealousy and egos, but Chi-Lou Entertainment and its team Game Time Entertainment are willing to work and support everybody. If we are going to make it, we must learn to humble ourselves and unify just like Atlanta, NYC, the South and West Coast.
R.N: How long have you been in the entertainment business?
Q.J: I have been in the business about 20 years, off and on. When I was younger, I had multiple labels trying to sign me. However, the thug in me had chosen the street life. Landing the bad boy, yours truly with three indictments; and you know what happened next. I went to prison, but when I got out, I’d decided to invest in a music label.
R.N: Will you ever consider going with a national label?
Q.J: To be honest, I have been enjoying being independent, promoting my brand, because people will not promote you like you want. So, you learn to be your best advocate. Nonetheless, I am willing to work with any promoter that wants to work with CHI LOU Entertainment.
R.N: Who do you have on your team?
Q.J: Well, there is me, Yung Spook ( he also sings), A Star (Game Time Entertainment), Rec Riddles and King Sincere. We all are Hip Hop with different styles.
R.N: So what are your goals for the 2016?
Q.J: I want to continue promoting our music, our products line, and staying active on social media. Also, our main focus is to travel on a national scale, getting on tours that are profitable and meeting new faces.
R.N: Do you have any final words?
Q.J: I want anybody that is looking for talents, to book Chi-Lou Entertainment, and see how we work hard for our fans. Our brand of music styling is like no other. I want to give a big shout out to you Rodney, The Newsletter and Raw Talent Magazine LLC., for having me.
This concludes the interview with up and coming entertainment company, Chi-Lou. The Midwest will be looking to hear great things about this group. If you are ever on Facebook, you will truly see Qualo actively working hard to get his information out to the market.
Happy New Year to everybody that supports us here at byteclay.com.
