On Saturday, March 12th and Sunday, March 13th, 2016, the Original LGBT Expo will be exhibiting at the Javits Center. During the two-day event there will be a wide range of activities promised to be worthwhile for the guests who attend. The entertainment line-up includes a performance by American Idol and Rock of Age’s star Constantine Maroulis, performers like Brooklyn’s own Dante and a runway show hosted by celebrity wedding planner Donnie Brown.
Donnie Brown will be the emcee for the wedding inspired runway show scheduled for 2pm on both days and promises to be a crowd pleaser while the models walk the catwalk. Donnie will be hosting the runway show will feature designs from local New York brands like Kirrin Finch, Vandiver Tailors and fashion designers who have shown with PLITZS NYC Fashion Week. A nicely choreographed set of local fashion to inspire looks for the bridal party, groomsmen, evening wear and wedding guest attire.
The show will open with a set by local designers Laura Moffat and Kelly Sanders Moffat a married couple who wanted to fill the growing need for gender-defying fashion with their brand Kirrin Finch. The business is inspired by menswear clothing made to fit a woman’s body. The designers said that “the inspiration for the business was borne out of our own frustration at being unable to find clothes that match our personal style. As women who tend to gravitate towards button-up shirts and bow ties, we often find ourselves envying the clothes in the men’s section, but are always frustrated because they are not designed to fit a woman’s body.” There is still 1 day left to be able to buy their shirts on their Kickstarter campaign or contact them through www.kirrinfinch.com.
Another designer that will be featured is suit designer Kevin Vandiver. A new resident transplant, this will be the first time his tailored suits will hit the New York runway. Kevin’s company Vandiver Tailors are known for their high-quality tailor made suits for both men and women, as well as being a company that gives back to the community. Kevin says “I believe that everyone deserves something good after all. For every suit or shirt that you buy, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to one of three charities that Vandiver Tailors supports. Not only will you leave wearing something good, but your dollars will ensure that there will be good for someone else.” Visit vandivertailors.com for more information.
One of the show stoppers on the runway will be the designer collective by PLITZS Fashion Marketing a local production that showcases designers from all over the world during New York Fashion Week in February and September. The PLITZS Fashion Week production is one of the most affordable platforms for a designer who wants to showcase their designs during the most coveted week in New York.
