It hasn’t been our typical snowy and cold winter here in the Northeast Ohio region but are you still tired of it? Are you ready to see some colorful Spring flowers? If you are, then head to the 22nd annual HBA Akron Home & Flower Show being held at the John S. Knight Center on Friday, February 26, Saturday, February 27 and Sunday, February 28. It is approximately a 45 minute drive from Cleveland.
This year’s main attraction of the show will be over 7000 square feet of feature gardens (showcasing the latest garden accessories and the latest trend in plants) and thousands of Spring flowers in bloom to delight your senses. The Home & Flower Show will also feature gardening seminars (including “How to Grow Terrific Tomatoes”), home improvement seminars (including “Designing Your Dream Kitchen”), gardening tips as well as arts & crafts vendors, live musical entertainment (including singer Julie Ann Crookston-Gulenko) and a Super Hero Photo Op (on Saturday).
Back by popular demand, a spotlighted attraction includes appearances by celebrity antiques appraiser, Dr. Lori, star of Discovery Channel’s hit TV series, “Auction Kings.” Visitors will be able to get their antiques and collectibles appraised by Dr. Lori herself. Dr. Lori appraises more than 20,000 objects each year that are brought to her by members of the audience. Dr. Lori will be making appearances at the Akron Home & Flower Show on Friday from 6 p.m. – 7:45 p.m., on Saturday from 4 p.m. – 5:45 p.m. and on Sunday from 11 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. and 2 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.
Also making appearances at the Home & Flower Show will be Jerry Risner, the executive chef at Gervasi Vineyard and Andrew Codispoti, Gervasi’s head winemaker. Risner manages 5 kitchens on Gervasi property in addition to the new Twisted Olive Restaurant in Green, Ohio. Codispoti oversees all phases of wine production and development at Gervasi Vineyard.
And don’t miss seeing the appearance by Executive Chef Dante Boccuzzi who has earned his own Michelin Star and has served as the private chef for actor Robert DeNiro. Boccuzzi will be offering cooking demonstrations (on Saturday at 3 p.m.).
Be sure to stop by and meet several of the Akron Zoo’s Exotic Animals. Among several of the animals scheduled to appear are a porcupine, a snake and a kinkajou. And don’t miss the dog training sessions (“Sit Means Sit”) being offered at the Home & Flower Show.
The Home & Flower Show will also feature sustainable exhibits where visitors can learn about such subjects as healthy eco-living ideas, home energy assessments and other products and services for the home that are environmentally-friendly.
