The full trailer for “The 100” season 3 was finally released today on YouTube. Posted on Dec. 14, the promo was too long for television, so it had to be unveiled online, creator Jason Rothenberg explained last week. So, what can fans expect this season from Clarke, Lexa, Bellamy, Monty, Octavia and the others? From the looks of the trailer, there is going to be a lot of action, deadly battles and even siblings will be at war.
Right off the bat, Clarke and Lexa are seen together. Facing each other after the events at Mt. Weather must bring up a mixture of emotions. Clarke and Lexa definitely have feelings for each other and have amazing chemistry. However, Lexa betrayed her and it ended up costing people their lives. While it is understandable why Lexa made that particular decision, it is not something that anyone would be able to easily forgive.
In “The 100” season 3 trailer, Clarke and Lexa face each other. Clarke’s face is full of anger and rage, but at the same time, her romantic feelings for Lexa are clear. Although she would love to kill Lexa for her betrayal and it looks like she wants to in the trailer, Clarke’s heart might get in the way. Will the two forever be at war because of Lexa’s decision? Or will the two somehow come to an understanding?
It seems the latter is more likely. Clarke and Lexa may be two completely different people, but they are more alike than anyone realizes. Once again, the chemistry between these two women is electric and they do share a bond. Perhaps a common enemy will have the two join forces. Later in the promo, Clarke and Lexa come across a field full of dead bodies. There are a lot of people who would love to see Clarke and Lexa come together once again and hopefully, those Clexa shippers might get their wish.
The next characters that need to be discussed are Bellamy and Octavia. Ever since the first season, the siblings have gone in different directions. It all began when Octavia met Lincoln. Then, Octavia ended up with the Grounders. Her storyline with the Grounders was an interesting one. For the first time, Octavia was making her own decisions and it really seemed to make her character grow into her own person.
Octavia does have problems with one person. It seems that Bellamy and Octavia will have some serious sibling rivalry. Octavia says that her brother is on the wrong side and Bellamy is seen wearing Grounder attire. While some think Bellamy is going to side with the Grounders, it seems more likely that he is in disguise, dressed that way as part of some plan. Perhaps he decides to join the Grounders, just temporarily, to deal with a new threat? This might have something to do with the bodies that Clarke and Lexa found.
In “The 100” season 3 trailer, Octavia attacks Bellamy and says, “you are dead to me.” By the look on Octavia’s face, she means it. Does this have to do with him and the Grounders, did he betray her in some way or is this a new storyline?
Speaking of Bellamy, he carries a lot of guilt over lives that have been lost. While Clarke seems to deal with it by rationalizing, Bellamy seems to be in a lot of turmoil. Could his guilt cause him to make some bad decisions? At one point in “The 100” season 3 trailer, Clarke tells Bellamy that he does not want to go to war. Later, the two hug and there are tears in Clarke’s eyes. A little more than halfway in the promo and Clarke is looking at the ground as she cries. The look on her face seems to imply that she is grieving. Could she be mourning the loss of someone she cares about?
On the season 2 finale of “The 100,” Jaha found the City of Light. There, he encountered a mysterious woman who is actually not human, but an A.I. (artificial intelligence.) Her name is Ali and he will bring her back to Camp Jaha. Then, he introduces Murphy to Ali, which will definitely create some issues since Murphy knows the truth.
Watch “The 100” season 3 trailer and share your thoughts. What do you think will happen with Clarke and Lexa, Bellamy and Octavia, the Grounders and the new threat everyone is talking about? How does Ali and the City of Light play into the story? “The 100” returns with a new season to the CW on Jan. 21.
