In what some are calling a desperate move, Ted Cruz has named Carly Fiorina as his running mate. By Cruz naming Fiorina at such an early stage in the game, it looks to some like he’s grabbing at straws to get some momentum going after Tuesday night’s shut-out.
Cruz’s reveal has everyone talking and that includes the anchors on the Fox News show “The Five.” The one thing folks are finding a hard time getting past during the Cruz-Fiorina announcement was the bizarre singing by Fiorina apparently dedicated to Cruz’s two young daughters.
Kimberly Guilfoyle, who is a “Fox” favorite, said she was taken back a bit with Fiorina’s singing and she said it was a little like “Children of the Corn.” Eric Bolling said it looked like a desperate move on Cruz’s part, considering he is so far behind. Others thought Cruz should be thinking about bowing out instead of now having Fiorina in tow.
According to MSN News on April 27, naming Fiorina comes on the heels of Donald Trump sweeping all five states on Tuesday. It’s a move for Cruz in desperate times, who is in “need of momentum after a five-state shutout.”
ABC News reports that on Monday Cruz said that “his campaign was in the process of vetting a short list of potential vice presidential picks.” Fiorina being vetted by Cruz was confirmed by one of Fiorina’s aides. That was Monday, come Wednesday the short list got real short and out comes Fiorina as his VP hopeful.
Cruz gave Fiorina high praises before introducing her to the crowd and part of his spiel on Fiorina it was how she gets along so good with his two young daughters as they all travel together on the campaign bus. He said how she makes up songs for his girls and how they’ve grown to love her.
There was a little too much talk about Fiorina and the kids during Fiorina’s introduction. After all folks will be looking to Cruz and his new running mate to get down to business and explain how they together will work to fix this nation.
When Fiorina comes out and starts talking about the kids and how much they love their dad on top of what Cruz had just said about the kids loving Fiorina, it got strange. Again, what about the country and the things needed fixing?
When Fiorina broke out in song it got even stranger. It was a song that she made up for the Cruz girls and however cute, it sounded odd and out of place. Not to mention she can’t carry a tune in a basket!
The Cruz-Fiorina ticket might have fared better to tackle interests that the folks in the U.S. are concerned about rather than selling Fiorina through the eyes of the Cruz kids. Then Fiorina giving the crowd her rendition of a song spun for the little girls went too far, it was bizarrely strange! And while folks want to know how she is going to help Cruz fix the good old USA, she didn’t have a song for that.
