The Team USA vs. Guatemala live stream online and televised soccer game Tuesday evening will be another shot for the United States men’s national team at 2018 World Cup qualifying. The team was shocked in Guatemala City last week but will try to bounce back with a win in Columbus, Ohio. On Friday, Guatemala scored twice to end up with a 2-0 victory on their home field. The USMNT will need to pick up a big win inside the United States on Tuesday as they are in danger of falling farther behind group leader Trinidad and Tobago. The 2018 World Cup qualifying live streaming and TV coverage comes via ESPN networks.
According to USA Today in their March 29 report, another loss tonight, or even a tie, by the United States team could very well have them ineligible to compete in the 2018 World Cup in Russia. If that happens it would be the first team the U.S. has failed to qualify for the World Cup since 1990. They’ve competed in seven-straight tournaments, but are in serious danger after the 2-0 loss last week. However, tonight’s game takes place on home soil in Columbus, Ohio and should have plenty of fans on hand to rally them on. Team USA will need to get tonight’s win in order to move up towards one of the top two spots in their current CONCACAF group standings.
The U.S. currently is in third place for Group 3 and has four points. Trinidad and Tobago leads the group with seven points, followed by USA’s opponents tonight, Guatemala, who have six points. A big win would catapult the United States up a spot and help them move towards the final qualifying stage which comes later in the year. Goalie Tim Howard played up the fact that their opponents may have benefited from some good luck in Friday’s game, commenting, “They had some good fortune. I can imagine on Tuesday night they won’t be so lucky.” Look for Howard and company to step things up on their home field and pick up that needed victory tonight.
The United States find themselves as big favorites to get the win tonight, with their moneyline price ranging from -500 up to -600 at various books. As the underdogs, Guatemala has a price of +1000 to +1900 at different books, while a draw is between +500 and +600. The over/under goals total is at 2-1/2 goals for the complete game tonight. As of right now, there are no future odds for the World Cup as qualifying is still underway, leaving more teams to sort out.
