The No. 13 TCU Horned Frogs stunned the No. 24 Rice Owls by the score of 10-0 in a seven-inning game to close out Saturday, February 27, 2016 action in the Shriners Hospitals for Children College Classic at Minute Maid Park in Houston, Texas. With the win, the Horned Frogs go to 5-1 in 2016 while the Owls fall to 3-4.
TCU posted their 10 runs off nine hits, with the second inning producing five runs, followed by three in the third and single runs in the fourth and sixth. Starting pitcher Luken Baker received the win for the Owls, his second of the season. The Conroe (Texas) Oak Ridge product pitched six innings, giving up four hits, while striking out seven and facing 23 batters. Rice starter Ricardo Salinas received the lost after two complete innings on the mound.
Next up for the Rice Owls will be a 6 p.m. CST game against Louisiana-Lafayette on Sunday, February 28, 2016 at Minute Maid Park. TCU will face Houston in the 2:30 p.m. CST game on Sunday.
