Taylor Swift was one of many stars to reach out to Kesha while she fights a disturbing legal battle and while everyone sent her kudos for being so brave, Swift was the only one to donate money to help Kesha through this trying time. Swift gave Kesha $250,000 to help with her finances as she battles her producer in court.
While Lady Gaga, Demi Lovto, Ariana Grande, Kelly Clarkson and Lorde have applauded her for her bravery going forth in this legal battle, it was Taylor Swift who sent along cash with her praise and support of the singer. Kesha, who is trying to get out of her contract with Dr. Luke, whose real name is Lukasz Gottwald, got some bad news on Friday, reports MSN News on February 22.
The judge wouldn’t let her out of the contract that she has with Dr. Luke, despite the claims of how she suffered due to his abuse. Kesha sued Dr. Luke in 2014 for on-going abuse, which included abuse from a decade ago when she was allegedly drugged and raped by this man.
Kesha sought a preliminary injunction from the New York Supreme Court Justice Shirley Kornreich so she could be released from her contract with Dr. Luke, which would allow her to record other music. Despite the horrific past Kesha claims to have with this man, the judge declined Kesha’s request.
The judge basically didn’t let any personal dealings that Kesha had with Dr. Luke interfere with the contract, which is business. The judge said that Dr. Luke had invested $60 million in Kesha’s career, which is what she told Kesha’s attorney, Mark Geragos during Friday’s hearing in NYC. Following the judge’s ruling Kesha tweeted to her fans and friends:
“Thank you for all the support in my legal case animals. i love all of you. it’s meant the world to me. xoxo.”
Fox News reports that Swift’s donation to Kesha was acknowledged by Kesha’s mom, Pebe Sebert. She jumped on Twitter to say:
“Taylor Swift has just generously donated $250,000 to Kesha, as a show of support during this difficult time. AMAZING!! Sebert continued on Twitter saying, “A persons wealth is not measured by what they have but by WHO they they help with it. And Taylor Swift is is a truly RICH PERSON. Thank you. Most important for Kesha, is that these beautiful, powerful women are standing behind her, letting the world see how powerful the truth is!”
Kesha filed a lawsuit back in 2014 claiming that Dr. Luke “sexually, physically, verbally and emotionally abused her for nearly 10 years, starting at age 18 when she signed on with his Sony-subsidiary label, Kemosabe Records in 2005,” reports MSN News.
