The essence of French culinary in Egypt is often met with a delicate touch. A time capsule. . .experiencing a temporary allure, beauty, and transition into the scene of Parisian culture. In Cairo, such a place is known as Paul’s. And in Paul’s that world awaits intriguing visitors (foreign and Egyptian), who dare to allow the artistry of culinary to transform their spirits. Into a French Spirit!
Shopping for costume’s at City Stars on a Saturday afternoon becomes a work-out routine. Venturing from store to store, in hopes of finding a perfect size, color, or style takes a keen allure for a captivating eye.
On February 20, 2016, Paul’s in City Stars awaited 3 feminine Spirits, stopping to take a break from the wonders and fascinations that come with costume purchases. The space was filled with other weary Spirits also wanting to be mesmerized in the comforts of a space that brings a peaceful stillness to the hectic life and vibe of the City Stars atmosphere.
Glazing into the fancy edibles, and selections of the day, the calmness of food brings forth a rather intriguing picturesque. Feeling as if you are living, or imagining the ecstasy of Spring in the city of Paris. The ability for cafes or restaurants of Cairo to transform into tiny energies of the French mystique.
And such was the aura for that day’s mini trip to Paul’s. Teas and cappuccino’s were openers for conversation. Discussions on life, education, and careers were sources of entertainment for 3 women looking to find enjoyment in the midst of each other’s company. The theme of society, and the state of the performing arts could only further intrigue captivating minds.
Enjoy the quench of thirst, while bringing calmness could not be finalized without the eating of a croissant, and an even more desiring and enticing treat. . .le Eclair aux fraises. Two layers of strawberries and cream, huddled together between two slices of white bread. First eaten by one dame, and then selected by another. Making a twin selection of the Eclair aux fraises. Such was clearly a spiritual moment between the two, young women making the selection. Perhaps. . .just perhaps, the dual choice was a reflection of their bond together.
Maybe the personalities of their being were mirror images of each other. One having traveled across land, waters, and memories of time to meet a past familiarity. Such became a rejoicing experience. And how the Spirit of Paris played her role in the re-connecting of the two. That the art of costume preparation was another connector; a reviving indicator into the world of fashion and decor.
And so the outing ended with the necessity to additional purchases. Becoming part of the intricacies of Parisian culture with a Cairo vibe. Ah! The calming stillness of Paul’s, can never truly be sold!
