Taekwondo Grand Master Gerhard Brunner founded the Traditional Taekwondo Center in Tampa, Florida on January 8, 2011. The school will officially celebrate its five-year anniversary on Saturday, February 6 at 2 pm. The occasion will consist of belt testings, demonstrations and great food as many observances do, but there is much more for these students to celebrate when it comes to the founding of the Center.
Born in Munich, Germany and having trained in TaeKwon-Do for forty years, GM Brunner belongs to an elite group who continue to practice and teach the martial art of Taekwondo. As Taekwondo has become known more of a sport than a true martial art, Brunner opened the first Traditional TaeKwon-Do Center in Tampa in 1997, bringing the historical and time-honored disciplines of a true and effective martial art to the Tampa Bay area.
Additionally, GM Brunner was the first certified Kimoodo instructor in the United States and is the only certified instructor in Tampa. With roots in the Asian martial arts and desegregated within oriental healing arts, Kimoodo was founded by 10th Degree Black Belt, Senior Grandmaster Joon P. Choi, a Hall of Fame inductee and Founder and President of the Oriental Martial Arts College based out of Reynoldsburg, Ohio.
Grand Master Brunner has schools across the state of Florida located in Bradenton, Brandon, Palm Harbor, Westchase and Interbay. He also has schools in Honolulu, Hawaii and Mauldin, South Carolina as well as in his home country of Germany in Berlin, Köln and Genthin.
Having a Kwan Jang-Nim as Mr. Brunner, with his skills, dedication and devotion to the true martial art of Tae Kwon Do is even more cause for this Tampa school to celebrate.
